Here at Schloss Plars the culture of winegrowing has been fostered for about three generations and certificated notions in oenology have been passed on for as long. The strong-character white and red wines of the estate grow on the sun-kissed hillsides above Lagundo and Merano.
Animated handwork and a cultivation that respects nature - from the pruning to the harvesting – together with the use of innovative techniques provide the basis for the production of high quality wines.
The careful processing of the grapes and the gentle handling of the wine are a proof of the high aspirations of the winegrower Andreas Theiner. Thus he manages to transmit to his wines the character and peculiarities of the vineyard and of the loamy soil.
The Sauvignon is a smooth, aromatic wine of a straw yellow colour and an intensive smell of pineapple, gooseberry, elder and nettle. Fresh and bold – it goes perfectly with asparagus, onion soup, and fish dishes and can be drunk as an aperitif wine.
The Pinot blanc is a fruity and delicate white-wine with an intense yellow colour. Gentle notes of Williams pear, sweet apple, some dried pineapple and honey. Its full-bodied taste and fine minerals makes it a perfect aperitif wine and also an ideal accompaniment to white meat, pasta dishes and pâtés.
The Schiava is a fresh and a slightly tannic wine of a red ruby colour. It has a pleasant mild and fruity taste of cherry and raspberry with a light hint of bitter almond. It can be enjoyed as a drink outside of meals, but is also a perfect match to appetisers and typical South Tyrolean dishes, to white meats and mild cheeses.
This Cuvée has a dark purple colour and a sent of violet, blackberries, toasty aromas and chocolate notes. Starting with slightly tart notes it then reveals itself full-bodied and velvety. It pairs well with venison, roast meat, red meat and aged hard cheeses.
