Historic
Our home – & yours
SCHLOSS PLARS is more than a destination; it's a repository of emotions steeped in our personal history and the shared experiences with our guests. For three generations, it has been the cherished home of our family. For our guests, it is the wine refuge where they choose to spend some of the most important days of their year to retreat and recharge. And when you visit South Tyrol, it becomes your 'home', too, offering a warm welcome and a comforting stay in our suites.
The historic building
Our story begins where it all started, amidst vineyards and with a view over the Meran region on lands tilled since the 14th century. In the late 19th century, Wilhelm D'Avignon, a visitor from Leipzig, constructed SCHLOSS PLARS in the Historicism style, an architectural trend of that era that harks back to earlier styles, in our case Romanesque and Renaissance. Later, these lands came into the possession of our grandfather, Franz Theiner. A former Kaiserjäger, he found his calling as a vintner here, introducing the wine that has since become a cornerstone of our family's heritage.
The romantic hotel
Our parents saw the potential in the enchanting aura of the castle and its environs to inspire others. They transformed SCHLOSS PLARS into a guesthouse, a haven for those seeking an escape from the frenetic pace of daily life. It's a place for those who wish to disconnect and immerse themselves in the unique charm shaped by the castle's architecture and the estate's originality. Here, guests find the romance of a shared getaway and a connection to the authentic, grounded lifestyle of the South Tyrolean countryside.

The boutique hotel
Today, we, Irene and Andreas, along with our family, have the privilege of calling this special place our home. It's a joy to share it with our guests, who consider SCHLOSS PLARS wine & suites as their sanctuary, their cherished spot, their 'place to be', returning to rediscover it year after year.
